In order to start, and move up the ranks you must first take a mission.
You have as much time as you need to complete the mission, then you return the completed mission back to HQ and begin a new mission.

They are questions, or riddles that you ask of the other participants like, "Show me your best war wound and tell me how you got it."
or
"Go back to yesteryear and Tel me a story of when you were a naughty child"
